What happened when comedian and host of the Interactive Achievement Awards Jay Mohr first laid eyes upon the signature personal fashion style of Dead or Alive creator Tomonobu Itagaki? It was in the middle of an interview for the Game|Life podcast, so we would know.

On this week’s show, we take a little field trip to the red carpet at this year’s DICE Summit in Las Vegas, posting a few brief interviews with gaming industry veterans like Epic Games founder Tim Sweeney, Nintendo’s Don James, Zynga’s Brian Reynolds and more. That’s all at the bottom of the show. First you have to listen to me, Wired.com managing editor Marty Cortinas and Wired magazine senior editors Chris Baker and Peter Rubin discuss the pros and cons of asphalt injections, the proper pronunciation of Karateka, et cetera. Two poems are read aloud.

Game|Life’s podcast is posted every Friday, is available on iTunes, is embedded below and can be downloaded directly.

Ubisoft will release Assassin’s Creed III on October 30, it said during a call with investors on Wednesday.

Arriving less than one year after the release of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, Assassin’s Creed III is expected to star an all-new protagonist in an experience Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said will be “the biggest launch in Ubisoft history.”

Guillemot explained that the developer has been working diligently on the new game for three years, describing what the team has achieved in that time as “fabulous.”

While Ubisoft has yet to reveal where exactly Assassin’s Creed III will take place, the game’s setting has been speculated to be anywhere from Ancient Egypt to the American Revolution. Imagine performing Assassin’s Creed‘s trademark Leap of Faith off the Great Pyramid of Giza. Of course, Assassin’s Creed III‘s storyline will also finally be bringing the story arc of the main Assassin’s Creed trilogy to its long-awaited conclusion.

Ubisoft has not said what platforms for which it will release Assassin’s Creed III, but it will most likely be coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC (and maybe Wii U).

As the Resident Evil series’ control schemes have evolved to allow the player to react more quickly, so has the legion of undead evolved.

Resident Evil 6 will allow players to move and shoot at the same time, something that Resident Evil 5 did not. Capcom said this week that the zombies in Resident Evil 6, called J’avo after the Serbian word for “demon,” will also be more agile.

The J’avo are “even more dangerous than the typical zombie, and are capable of understanding speech and coordinating attacks,” Capcom blogger Brett Elston wrote on Wednesday. “That said, they’re still mutated monstrosities, so they’re not exactly calm or collected when it comes to tactics.”

The Tester Season 3, Episode 2: Tears of a Clown

By Chris Kohler Email Author 2:39 pm |  Categories: Game|Death  | Edit

In case you missed it, some indeterminate number of contestants are still involved in Sony’s PlayStation Network reality show The Tester, in which the winner will receive a job as a “production associate” at the Santa Monica game development studio.

Last week, contestant Ashichan went home early, way before Death Panelist Brent Gocke learned to pronounce her name as something other than “Ass-a-chin,” of which the helpful recap at the beginning of this episode reminds us. Internet humorist Egoraptor, of course, got to crash on the couch, and we quickly find out that his fellow contestants are not excited about this.

“I’m a little pissed, because where’s our special treatment,” asks gamer girl Asuukaa between sips of a complimentary Sprite. What, that’s not enough special treatment? There’s like eleven PlayStation Vitas in that house and this was filmed months ago. But that’s small potatoes compared to what happens next.
