Welcome to VirtualNES.com
VirtualNES.com is the the premier online destination for playing classic Nintendo Entertainment System games like Contra, Mega Man, BattleToads, Tecmo Bowl, CastleVania and Super Mario Bros. and many other great NES games, whether they be imported, homebrew, or even the elusive unreleased games.
Unlike our competitors, VirtualNES.com is able to provide you classic NES games legally. We can only provide you with classic NES games that we have an original cartridge of, which have either been bought out of pocket or donated by Players Like You™. If we don't have the games in our possession, we can't have them online.
Here at VirtualNES.com we get emails regularly from hardcore gamers regarding all of the best classics, like Legend of Zelda, Bubble Bobble, and Super Mario Bros. Back in the day, consoles were very different in comparison to how they are now and they didn't offer any poker games. Luckily, the newer poker sites now fill that void, and with their no download poker software, have revolutionized gaming forever.
For The Record: A Comment About Our Future
I'm sure most of you are aware of the now-shelved SOPA and PIPA bills in the United States, the ACTA treaty outrage in Europe, and the arrest of Kim Dotcom, the owner of MegaUpload. We've been paying close attention to these events at Emulation Collective, and feel that now would be an appropriate time to comment on what this means for us.
When the group that after two name changes became Emulation Collective formed in 2008 to restart this project in full compliance of the law, we (and our advisors) went to great lengths to ensure that our activities are legal. Our planning and research there has actually been very successful. Since we've started the library project, using only games for which we have the original cartridge of, we've received a total of zero DMCA takedown demands.
On VirtualGBX.com, we've got Toonsylvania and College Slam.
On VirtualSuperNES.com, we've got Adventures of Dr. Franken, The, Brunswick World - Tournament of Champions, Championship Pool, ESPN National Hockey Night, Family Feud, Foreman For Real, Jim Power - The Lost Dimension in 3-D, John Madden Football '93, Judge Dredd, Lester the Unlikely, NCAA Football, Operation Logic Bomb, PGA Tour Golf, Primal Rage, Roger Clemens' MVP Baseball, Sports Illustrated - Championship Football & Baseball, Super High Impact, Super Strike Eagle, Urban Strike, Warlock, and WWF WrestleMania - The Arcade Game.
Altogether, of the 25 official games added (homebrew and translations don't count), we're now up to 7.92%.
As always, we still need your help for our goal of adding a game for every day in 2012. We need you to help us by donating your old videogames to Emulation Collective, or donating a few dollars to help us buy more games. With your help, we can realize our dream of making Emulation Collective the largest freely available games library in the world.
Tossed Salad & Scrambled Eggs
The survey that we've recently posted has provided a lot of great information for us, and overall, we're very happy with the response. We've added a bunch of games across all of the Emulation Collective websites, some of which are games that were requested in the survey. If you haven't taken the survey yet, there's still time. Act fast, The survey will be closing on January 21st, 2012.
Here on VirtualNES.com, we've got Ninja Crusaders and Peter Pan & The Pirates both of which were games requested in the survey, and are games that count towards Games Project 2012. Also added today are five new Homebrew games by Shiru, a great NES homebrew developer from Russia, and English translations of two games previously available only in Japanese on VirtualNES.com, Ankoku Shinwa: Yamato Takeru Densetsu and TetraStar - The Fighter. You can find the translated versions of those games on the Translated games page.

Happy New Year, Internet Denizens!
We're happy to be ringing in another year here at Emulation Collective. Well, I say that, I'm actually sitting here feeling rather miserable with a head cold. In any event, all of us here at EC would like to wish you a Happy New Year.
So, now that we've got that out of the way, let's get to the news update, shall we?
Here on VirtualNES.com, we're starting out the year with two more great games: The Jungle Book and The Terminator. There's a good chance you don't remember these games - they were released over a year after the Super NES was released stateside, and the NES wasn't getting a lot of love then. Of note, The Jungle Book is the 2nd to last licensed NES game released in the United States.
Over on VirtualGBX.com, we've got Tetris Plus and CastleVania Legends. Somewhat like the two NES games added today, these are often forgotten from having been from the slow period of the Game Boy, 8 years after the release of the original Game Boy, but before the release of the Game Boy Color and Pokémon Red & Blue in the United States.
These two additions put us at 1.09% for our goal of adding a game for every day in 2012. We need you to help us by donating your old videogames to Emulation Collective, or donating a few dollars to help us buy more games. With your help, we can realize our dream of making Emulation Collective the largest freely available games library in the world.
Give the Gift of Gaming: Donate to Emulation Collective
Since our founding in 2006, Emulation Collective (the organization responsible for this website) has relied primarily on user donations to pay our server fees and for more games to add to our digital library. We are very happy to report that thanks to generous donations from Players Like Youâ„¢, we've been able to add over 250 games to our library this year.
That's good progress, but we have somewhat higher ambitions for 2012. Over the next year, our goal is to add 366 games to the Emulation Collective library. That's one game for each day of the year. But, we can't do it alone. We need you to help us by donating your old videogames to Emulation Collective, or donating a few dollars to help us buy more games. With your help, we can realize our dream of making Emulation Collective the largest freely available games library in the world.
Upgrades & 3 New Games Posted!
For the sake of brevity, here's the news: Road Fighter, a PAL-Exclusive game, has been added. Hoppin' Mad, an unreleased platform game, has been added to the Unreleased Games section. Finally, NES Virus Cleaner, a new game by Sly Dog Studios, has been added to the Homebrew Section.
The upgrades listed in the title happened a few days ago behind the scenes, so you may well have not noticed it, but, games should be loading on average about 50% faster than they had previously. This is a result of upgrades made to our networking backend. As a follow-up to the previous news post, we've already added new games to VirtualGBX, and we're still making preparations for a significantly larger addition of games to VirtualSuperNES, which should be ready around the first week of October.
As always, thank you for your continued support of Emulation Collective.
