Adele wasn’t the only woman at the Grammys. Rihanna and Katy Perry had great performances, too.

PlayBrooklyn has been dominating the national music conversation for years, but one usually pictures its scene as full of sweaty lofts, (maybe a little too) forward-thinking fashions and experimentation with form and sonics. That's not the whole story, though. Brooklyn acts like The National have been ushering-in a poised version of indie rock for years now. Call it Brooklyn Adult Rock – emotionally deep, obsessed with mature relationships, painstakingly composed and unwilling to hide obvious chops behind walls of reverb. This week's VEVO playlist uses The National's Dessner brothers as a centerpiece in both their dayjob band, as well as backers of Sharon Van Etten with members Wye Oak and The Walkmen.
