Randy Moss And The Rams? Must We Go There?

Wide receiver Randy Moss wants to take a break from bass fishing and return to the NFL.

I planned just to ignore the matter. Impossible. The NFL media cycle abhors a vacuum, and Randy Moss filled it with his desperate pleas for attention online lately. St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher got dragged into the mix, asked about Moss' comment that he would like to play again in 2012.

Randy Moss? In St. Louis? Really? Let's get to the bottom of this and open it up for a little late night discussion.

Kroenke & Other Dodgers Bidders Have One Week To Submit Revised Bids

St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke has one week to submit a revised bid and a heap of supporting documentation in his bid for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Good thing the St. Louis Rams hired a new general manager to help run the show at Rams Park, because the team's owner, Stan Kroenke, is going to be very busy over the next week. The 11 parties bidding on the Los Angeles Dodgers, which includes Kroenke, have been asked by the Blackstone Group to submit a revised bid within the next week, according to the Los Angeles Times.

2012 NFL Free Agency: Rams Offensive Free Agents

Yesterday, Eric put up a review of the Rams free agents on the defensive side of the ball. Today it has been put upon me to look into the offensive free agents.

A lot of decisions will have to be made with this group by Jeff Fisher and Les Snead. There are 4 exclusive rights free agents, one restricted free agent and 12 unrestricted free agents. After the jump I'll give my thought on what the Rams should do with each of them.

2012 NFL Draft: Mayock Dishes On Top Prospects

Baylor's Kendall Wright is a potential top-15 pick, according to Mike Mayock of the NFL Network.

NFL draft guru Mike Mayock dispensed a considerable amount of wisdom in a conference call with the media yesterday. I sat in on it for a portion of the call, and was able to pick up a few tidbits related to the St. Louis Rams and some players that might be on their draft board when the 2012 NFL Draft rolls around in April.

Quips from Mayock with reaction after the jump.

2012 NFL Draft: The Prospect Playbook - Matt Kalil

USC's Matt Kalil is one of the best OT prospects in country, maybe the best. The tape shows why.

So I finally got my Prospect Playbook piece on Matt Kalil up over at Mocking the Draft. It's nothing you won't hear from most others who have watched Kalil.

He's got good feet. He's quick and athletic for his size. He's got great arms and his upper body is very powerful when he can extend. On the downside, his lower body isn't nearly powerful enough to anchor the run game, and he's prone to try and compensate for it in different ways (widening his stance, "guessing" his blocks instead of hitting them with confidence.

The question I pose at the end is simple in concept but difficult in context and application:

How do you approach a prospect with a near-elite (or elite in some people's opinions) pass-blocking skill set despite comparative lower body strength which presents an obvious problem in run blocking let alone pocket protection?

Matt Kalil can help a lot of teams in year one, the Rams certainly one of them. And while he's not on the level of the most elite OT prospects, his pass blocking skills may be enough to (in the right system) be a dominating factor sooner rather than later.

NFL Free Agents 2012: Brandon Lloyd Wants To Get Paid

St. Louis Rams free agent wide receiver Brandon Lloyd's agent made it quite clear that his client will be listening to all offers this spring.

St. Louis Rams free agent wide receiver Brandon Lloyd would still like to play for Josh McDaniels, according to Tom Condon, his agent. He would also like to get paid said his agent.

Condon discussed his new client's free agent future with the Boston Herald on Thursday.

Rams New GM Hints At The Kind Of Players He Likes

St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher and his new general manager, Les Snead, have a certain quality they look for in players. How will that shape the team's plans for the draft and free agency?

Les Snead, the St. Louis Rams new general manager, dropped a hint about what kind of players he values in his introductory press conference. What Snead said will be music to fans' ears after watching the team struggle to score points season after season. It might even give you a clue about which prospects and free agents could be on the Rams' draft board as well as which current players might or might not be sticking around in 2012.

2012 NFL Draft: TST Community Round 1, Pick 5

Alabama's Trent Richardson (3) runs during the first half of the BCS National Championship college football game against LSU Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, in New Orleans. (AP Photo/Dave Martin)

Yesterday the Browns made a move to add Matt Kalil. Today, we are faced with yet ANOTHER trade, this time the Steelers (led by Rcoon1307) are moving up. They had to fork over their 1st, 2nd and 5th round picks this year along with a 1st and 3rd next year to make the deal. Hardly chump change. Who is worth that much to them? Let's see:

Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama

Pick Grade:

A-

The Steelers have lost starting running back Rashard Mendenhall to a torn ACL and he will miss the entire 2012 NFL season (and might never be the same). He was having a terrible year anyway- his yards per carry were way down and there is no capable RB on the Steelers roster to carry the rock for 4 quarters. The Steelers have promised to go back to the "old steeler way" which means running the ball and playing D. Cutting Mendenhall will clear some cap space and Richardson will be a tremendous upgrade for a similar price. Richardson has all the talent and intangibles to be as good as Adrian Peterson and doesn't have any where near the injury concern. Having a running game with Richardson will make Big Ben, Antonio Brown, And Mike Wallace that much better. The Steelers gave up a lot but have drafted well recently and aren't far away from getting back to the Super Bowl.
