BAFTAs and Grammys
Awards season has opened on both sides of the Atlantic, and the stars took to the red carpet this week in London for the 2012 BAFTA awards and, in Los Angeles, for the Grammys. Director Martin Scorsese took home the prestigious Fellowship award for his contribution to cinema – take a look at our illustrations from Shutter Island and from Hugo, which won Best Production Design and Sound. The Iron Lady, for which we have four downloads available, also triumphed with a Best Actress gong for Meryl Streep, as well as the award for Hair and Makeup. At the Grammys, jazz singer Tony Bennett took home the award for Best traditional pop vocal album, as well as Best pop duo performance for his duet with the late Amy Winehouse. Three quotes from Bennett explore issues of talent, respect and love.

Half term
For any parents struggling to keep their children entertained over the break, classic films are always an option. We have illustrations from Pixar classics Ratatouille and Wall-E, as well as clip suggestions and quotes from both Kung Fu Panda films. Older children and teens may appreciate illustrations from Stardust and the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Although our illustrations are intended for use in a formal church teaching context, perhaps they might be useful in sparking helpful conversations with your children.

Eternal Law
What might angels make of our fallen world, or of our legal system? These questions and more were posed by ITV's Eternal Law, from the creators of Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes. Out on DVD on Febrary 13th, the series followed world-weary angel Zak Gist (Samuel West) and naïve rookie Tom Greening (Ukweli Roach), who were stationed on earth to work as defence lawyers. Our illustrations look at themes from human weakness to divine grace.
