I do not have the Hauppauge HD-PVR, but would definitely like to have one with one caveat – Hauppauge creates a driver so that it work seamlessly with Media Center so that it is detected an an actual tuning device in TV setup.  I don’t know when or if this will ever happen, so I’ll just stick with my HDHR and enjoy what I get on clear-QAM.

HD-PVR > Media Center

However, I know there are many of you that have one of these and would gladly take anything that would give you some sort of solution until a real one arrives.  Well, for $30 (free trial is available) you can have a solution now.  It comes from DVBLogic and is called DVBLink for HDPVR.  The best I can tell, DVBLink acts as a communication link between the HDPVR and the integrated TV system for Media Center.  I would probably liken it to the solution SiliconDust provided for HDHomeRun users that use MCE or VMC without the TV Pack.  I can’t really confirm that though and since I don’t have the HD-PVR, I can’t test it.

So, I would love to hear from anyone that has an HD-PVR and is willing to give this a run (or who already have) with VMC/7MC.

I was a beta tester and now released version user of the DVBLink product for HD PVR. It works great. The HD pvr sleep functionality works great. I get any channels my stb gets in media center. The HD PVR looks like a tuner to MCE. I highly recommend!!!

Very good news! I’d really like to get one for use with my DISH receiver, but it will probably be a bit before it gets to the head-of-the-pack in the purchase department. At least I know there’s a real option now for Media Center!

Hey Jon – I tested this as well and now have the latest release version running. It’s FANTASTIC. I’ve got it setup with my Motorola STB using firewire to change channels. It’s been extremely stable for me of late and is seemless so my entire family can use it without knowing they’re doing anything special. You will love it. I can’t wait for Hockey season again so I can get the full Center Ice package in Media Center. Fred’s also got a version with Multi-HDPVR support coming out soon so you can do up to 4 if your USB can handle that much.
