The December 2011 special issue of News Photographer magazine is the annual Best of Photojournalism edition. This issue includes portfolios from the Photojournalists of the Year: Damon Winter, a photojournalist for The New York Times; and Michael Holahan, of The Augusta Chronicle in Georgia, winner of the Smaller Markets title. There’s also a photographic essay from Justin Maxon, the winner of Cliff Edom’s “New America Award,†and a selection of images by Cameron Spencer of Getty Images, the Sports Photojournalist of the Year. These features and more in the December 2011 special issue of News Photographer magazine.

Times Correspondent Anthony Shadid Dies In Syria
Anthony Shadid was one of four Times journalists held captive in Libya last year, and now he was on assignment in Syria with photojournalist Tyler Hicks. The photographer says Shadid suffered from asthma and had a fatal attack. Hicks, who was a captive with Shadid in Libya in 2011, carried his body across the border to Turkey. Read More »

Registration Opens For NPPA's 2012 Multimedia Immersion
There are only 40 spots available for NPPA's popular 2012 Multimedia Immersion workshop and online registration is now open.
