Last Night's MCM Radio

We had another life changing version of MCM Radio last night. We started off by talking about the moves the Titans have made so far locking up some of there would be free agents. We then moved on to talk about some of the other players that might be re-signed. It seems that Jason Jones is the only other player they are talking with right now.

We then talked to Josh Norris of Rotoworld about the column he wrote last week calling Alshon Jeffery one of the most overrated players in this draft. He says he does not think Jeffery will be able to separate at the next level. It will be interesting to see what Jeffery runs at the combine, and to see if that changes the opinion of draft guys like Norris.

The full episode is posted after the jump.

Tennessee Titans Daily Links: Thorchak Wields His Mighty Hammer Once More Edition

Deuces, Jake.

Tennessee_titans_30x21 Mike Munchak spoke to John Glennon about the changes they want to make in the interior of the offensive line, and specifically about how they most likely won't take a guard of center in the first round:

"I don't think we'd take an offensive lineman with the first-rounder this year because usually it's a tackle if you (pick an offensive lineman in the first round) - unless you have a really special center or guard," Munchak said. "But for us, we're not really in the tackle market right now. We just signed Mike Otto back, and we're happy with Mike (Roos) and Dave (Stewart). We're pretty solid there, so I don't think there's much of a chance of that happening. But from then on, you leave all options open."

I completely agree with that logic. Better news in the same interview, Munch all but says that Jake Scott is history:

"You never know what's going to happen with free agency, and if we address anything there with the offensive line or not," Munchak said. "Jake Scott is a free agent, so we know we have one guy who definitely has a possibility of not being here because of that."

The Official MCM + MtD Live Draft War Room

Welcome to the MCM MtD (Mocking the Draft) Live Draft War Room! A short history behind the project: seton hall and steelers runs the live draft portion of the website, MtD to great effect. I've been the Titans representative for the past 2 years (for either good or bad, that's up to everyone to decide, lol). Last year it was Thunder64 (who will be the Jags rep for this one) and I who handled the duties in a co-op. This year, it's jlomas and I that will split the duties. Now here's the fun part where I need everyone's help in which direction we should go in the draft. Hence, the war room fanpost. Everyone's opinion will be heard and taken into account as I make the selection (s) later tonight. Here are the details:

Rounds 1 and 2 will be held on Friday Feb 17th, starting from 7 pm EST. Rounds 3-5 will be held on Saturday the 18th from 2:30 pm EST onwards. Teams have 5 minutes to make a selection in the 1st round and 4 minutes in the 2nd. Rounds 3-5 picks will be given 3 minute time limits.
A trade can only contain draft picks (current and future) and not players. 2013 picks will be counted as half the points in the 2010 draft value chart. All trades must be voted on and approved by fellow GMs or the commissioner.

Jump for more draft talk! Jump!!

2012 NFL Draft: Mike Mayock Position Rankings

Photo

ike Mayock of the NFL Network has released a new round of positional rankings, complete with risers and fallers. Mayock did what must have been a three hour conference call yesterday because I saw at least 1,000 Tweets from it. One of the interesting things that came out of it, from a Titans perspective, is that it is a very deep draft for interior offensive lineman. That means it would be silly for the Titans to spend the 2oth pick on one.

Mayock also said that it is a weak draft for defensive ends. That leads me to believe that there will not be a good option for the Titans at 20.

I have listed Mayock's rankings from positions relevant to the Titans after the jump.

Call it a fluff piece if you want, I like what I'm hearing. On the flip side, if it's true this basically makes it all but impossible for Jeffery to fall to 20. In any case, a very interesting piece provided by Cat Scratch Reader.

Tennessee Titans Daily Links: Merciless Edition

I don't care where JJ starts out a play, as long as he ends-up right here every down.

Tennessee_titans_30x21 Mike Munchak says he wants to use Jason Jones at DT and DE next season, provided the two sides can agree on a deal to keep him in Nashville. Apparently Jones and Munchak have talked several times at BSP since the season ended, and it's looking like Jones is OK with this plan, which increases the odds a deal gets done very soon.

Tennessee_titans_30x21 Mel Kiper has a new mock draft out, and this time around he pairs us with Illinois DE Whitney Mercilus. I'm all for that pick as long as his last name is pronounced 'Merciless".

Tennessee_titans_30x21 PFF takes a look at this year's potentially stellar free agent WR class. Any guy on this list would give our offense a big-time boost.

2012 NFL Draft: All This Quentin Coples Bashing Reminds Me Of Something

Photo

Recognize the guy in the picture? He was one of the most disruptive forces in football last year. Nobody wanted anything to do with him this time last year. On draft day, we all rejoiced when the Giants took him before we had a chance to. We laughed at their misfortune, there was nothing to like about Pierre-Paul, he was known only for doing backflips.

Well that kind of sucked in retrospect.
