Plugged In: Accessing God’s Power Through Prayer {session 1}

Good morning, friends!  I am so excited to begin this eight week journey with you, sharing what God has taught me about prayer.

For prayer is nothing else than being on terms of friendship with God ~Mother Teresa

God desires relationship with me, with you, with each of His children.  One of the ways this is accomplished is through prayer.
During the next eight weeks, we will identify barriers to an effective prayer life and seven ways to get your prayer life on the right track.

I have a .pdf printable for deeper study between this session and next week. However, I couldn’t figure out how to embed it here for you. If you want a free copy of that please leave your email in the comments or email me at kmelissasmallwood@gmail.com with Plugged In in the subject line.

Our Love Story {not quite what you would expect}

Happy Valentine’s Day!  Whether you are married or single, I think this commercial holiday can be a good excuse to thank God for the people He has placed in your life to love- be it friends, children, a spouse and those He has called you to serve.  Please know that I love and pray for…

God is too good to me

One of my very best friends moved away in 2005.  We stayed in touch but lost the closeness we had once shared. Her daughter, whom I love like my own, went through a very difficult time while they were away. Back in November, God brought my friend back to me, back to this area and…

Love is…

Love is… watching your husband love on a baby, having opened his heart and life to the unexpected and embracing it for all it is worth. Love is… a teenager playing with a little cousin, making them laugh and admitting they had a good time, too. Love is… opening your heart and trusting God to…

More exciting things!!

I promise I will return tomorrow with a content rich post but today I needed to stop by and quickly share a few more exciting things with y’all. {Did you see the exciting things from yesterday?} First of all, I am excited to be contributing to a wonderful community called The Intentional Lifestyle.  The site…

Exciting things are happening!

Can I just tell y’all that God is amazing? Sometimes I am tempted to throw in the proverbial towel with this whole writing/teaching thing, especially when I start listening to the lies of the devil.  And then God will show up in a sweet and powerful way {or two or three} and remind me that…

Real Community, Real Life

For most of my life, I have been a pretty closed off person. Of course, I appeared to be friendly and open.  If you invited me to your Pampered Chef party, I came (and I bought something).  I took my kids to playgroups and cub scouts and fraternized with the other moms.  I took my…

That’s What Love is for

I braid the rope together. It may seem like a peculiar birthday gift but to an 11 year old with down syndrome it will be well received. “string” as he knows it brings comfort and calm to a world that is often overstimulating and overwhelming. Lupus shoots fiery darts of inflammation and pain into the…

Not a roller coaster girl

I don’t like roller coasters. I prefer not to be surprised. I wouldn’t categorize myself as an adventurous gal. But, God would. Everyday life with Jesus is an adventure.  I don’t know what He will ask of me from moment to moment, yet my heart needs to remain open and flexible to His call.  I…

From clutter to clarity

I wrote about clutter and how to identify (and avoid) it. Oft lately, my mind and heart ponder a different type of clutter. The clutter of busyness.  The clutter of doing.  The clutter that accumulates when you are not weeding out the good to make room for God’s best. Isn’t it funny how we can…
