Nokia has updated an already great handset from 3GSM in Barcelona today, announcing the new E61i. With an updated design and upgrades in the right places, the Nokia E61i takes the baton from the E61 and runs with it.
While a lot of the specification sheet remains the same as the original E61, with the E61i still including WiFi, UMTS 3G data on the 2100MHz frequency, and quad-band GSM capability, the device does offer some incentive for current E61 owners to upgrade. First and foremost, the E61i now includes a 2.0 megapixel camera, an addition Nokia has made due to popular demand. Media playback capability, including a music player, has been added, and the E61i includes new One Touch shortcut keys to common applications on the handset. Apart from this, the Nokia E61i still sports 70MB of on board memory, complemented with microSD memory cards, and a 16 million color QVGA TFT LCD display, but adds a few grams of weight to the thin device.
The Nokia E61i should be available during Q2 of this year for an unsubsidized retail price of 400 Euro (approximately US$520).
