Pezzi, Galliano “Nino

Galliano “Nino” Pezzi, beloved husband of Fulvia of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at the age of 81 years.

Nino was born in Trieste, Italy to Antonio Galliano Pezzi and Maddalena Strohmayer. He served in the Italian military during WWII and immigrated to Canada in 1958. He worked for Sears as manager of the electronics service department until his retirement.

Nino is survived by his loving wife Fulvia; sons Claudio, Bryan and Richard; grandchildren Arlena, Arianna and Amadeo and great-grandson Manuel. He will also be missed by Ilse Pezzi; sisters Roma Eddy, Edda Clay and Delia Pfeffer; cousins Nivea Pezzi-Curiel and Ester and Sergio Arban. Nino will be remembered by lifelong friends Yole Zogolini and Claudio and Laura Cicogna. We will dearly miss his joyful spirit and humour.

Williams, Dennis Gordon

After a long and courageous struggle with Parkinson’s disease, Dennis passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on Thursday, November 29, 2007.

Born in Pontypridd, South Wales, Dennis immigrated to Canada in 1968. Working in the oil industry as an electrical engineer, he travelled throughout Europe, the Middle East and Canada. Dennis enjoyed the company of good friends and in his later years, at the Beverly Centre – Glenmore, he derived much pleasure exploring the new frontiers of the computer world.

Besides his loving wife, Alice, Dennis will be remembered by his son Allen, his partner Leanne and her daughter Alexandra, all of Calgary; his son Philip and his partner Claire of Honolulu, HI; as well as his sister Lillian, nephew David and his wife Ginny all of England.

Langpap, Maurice Harold (Rocket)

Maurice Langpap, beloved husband of Marion Langpap of Calgary, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at the Agapé Hospice in the early morning hours of Friday, November 30, 2007.

Maurice was the son of American immigrant parents who came to homestead in Canada shortly after the turn of the twentieth century. He was born near Vegreville, AB, where he attended school and spent his youth. Maurice started his aviation career with Canadian Pacific Airlines in Vancouver and retired with Dome Petroleum in Calgary. He enjoyed a twenty-five year retirement where he was able to indulge in his love of wildlife, astronomy, the outdoors and the mountains, hiking or skiing weekly until Maurice was diagnosed with cancer on June 1, 2007. He faced his disease with dignity and let nature take its course, expressing his thanks to everyone who came to visit him during the past six months.

Besides his wife Marion, Maurice is survived by his daughters Evelyn (Dave) and Carolyn (David), his sons Craig (Catherine) and Keith (Marilyn), his granddaughters Melissa (Jim) and Ella , grandson Michael (Marnie), four great grandchildren, brothers Ed and Lloyd, and many nieces and nephews.

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Dal (Pops) on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at the age of 70 years.

Born October 5, 1937 in Cold Lake and raised in what was known as Felix’s Hill on the southwest shore of Cold Lake, he will be remembered for his great kindness, honesty and wit. His involvement throughout the oil industry for over fifty years earned him the respect of many friends and a source of many favourite stories.

Besides being a loving husband of forty-nine years to Hilma, Dal was also father to Terri (Myles), Brent (Isabelle), Rhonda (Ross), Dallas (Michele) and Derek (Michele), grandfather of ten and a great-grandfather of four. He is survived by his sisters, Kay (Alfred) of Calgary, Brenda of Edmonton, his aunt Irma of Stony Plain, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Eddie and Nellie, and his sister Sharon.

Clark, John Alexander “Johnny

In Memorial

John (Johnny) Clark, beloved husband, father and grandfather, of Calgary (formerly of Halifax, Nova Scotia) passed away with family at his side in Foothills Hospital on November 27, 2007 at the age of 81 years.

Johnny will always be loved and remembered by his wife of fifty-two years, Irene Louise (Hunter); his daughter and son-in-law, Holly Clark and Jon Handforth; his grandchildren Chris and MacKenzie Handforth, all of Calgary and friends and family throughout Nova Scotia and Calgary. He is also survived by his sister Dorothy Logan and brother Murray Clark (Dorothy Boehk-Clark), of Westville, N.S. and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. Johnny was predeceased by his parents William and Roxena Clark, his brother Bill, who was killed in action while serving with the West Nova Scotia Regiment during World War II, his brother-in-law Willard Logan and his sister-in-law Jean Clark.

A native son of Westville, Pictou County, Johnny served in the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve in WW II. Shortly after he returned from service, he became active in baseball. A member of the championship-winning 1946 Truro Bearcats, he played a number of years in the Halifax & Dartmouth (H & D) Baseball League, as well as a year in Saint John, New Brunswick and Sherbrooke, Quebec. Well known in sports circles as the “Westville Flash,” Johnny dazzled the fans with his base-stealing prowess. He was inducted into the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame in 1981 and was later inducted into the Pictou County Sports Hall of Fame. Johnny had a 43-year career with the Halifax Shipyards, where he made many life-long friends. Following his retirement, he and Irene moved to Calgary in 1991 to be close to their daughter and grandchildren. While living in Calgary, Johnny worked with the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires and was stationed at Curry Barracks until 1995. A member of the Western Star Masonic Lodge in Westville, Johnny received his 50-year jewel in the Masonic Order in 2005. Johnny will be remembered as a man of honour and dignity, with a winning smile, a heart of gold, and a fierce love of family. He will be sorely missed.

A private family service will be held in Calgary on Sunday, December 2. A celebration of his life will be shared with family and friends in Westville, N.S. in the summer of 2008. Jim Myles, beloved husband of Gail Myles of Calgary, AB and Vancouver Island, BC, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at the age of 61 years.

Besides his loving wife Gail, Jim is survived by his two daughters and son-in law Jennifer and Mark Duffin and Kristen Myles; son and daughter-in-law Andy and Kristy Myles and his grand-daughter Alexandra.
