It is with great sadness that the family of Carole Ramsay announces her passing on Friday, September 28, 2007, from a brain aneurysm, at the age of 68 years.

Carole was born on January 7, 1939 in Virden, MB. Throughout her marvellous life she lived in East Selkirk, Manitou, Winnipeg, St. Thomas, Toronto, Waterloo (Belgium), Edmonton, Ignace, and Calgary. In each town or city where she resided, she touched the lives of so many through her various volunteer pursuits and community involvements. She was a vibrant member of the Edmonton Newcomers Club, Edmonton Extendicare Auxiliary, Esso Annuitants Club, and Calgary and Edmonton Chapters of the PEO. Also, Carole was blessed with a tremendous talent for playing the piano and shared this gift with many appreciative listeners throughout her life. Moreover, Carole was an avid sportswoman and consummate team player and enjoyed golf, lawn bowling, and excelled at curling. (Carole’s team won the Southern Ontario Ladies Curling Association championship in 1973.) Coupled with her passion for sports, music, and philanthropic endeavours was her ultimate passion – her family and her new husband Mac. As a mom, she was a magnificent support to her children and grandchildren. She was the cornerstone of her family.

Carole is deeply loved and will be missed by her husband Mac; her daughter and son-in-law Leslie and Wayne and their daughters, Claire, Grace, Lilly, and Moira; her son and daughter-in-law Bradley and Serena and their son Gerrit; daughter and son-in-law Leah and Gerald and their son Liam; and her daughter and son-in-law Heather and Mike and their sons, Jakob and Matthew. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Marguerite and Dustin; and her brother and sister-in-law Gerald and Kay. She was predeceased by her parents Gerry and Cathy Smith.

Johnson, Charles Edgar

Charles (Chuck) Johnson of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at the age of 80 years.

Chuck worked as a conductor for C.P. Rail for thirty-three years and was a former member of both the Forest Lawn and the Southwood United Churches. Chuck gave freely, volunteering with Meals on Wheels. He was a very proud and dedicated man.

Chuck will be lovingly missed by his children Nancy (Marty) of Chestermere, AB, Michael (Gail) of McKenzie, BC and Robert (Kim) of Chestermere, AB. Chuck had six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who will also miss him. Chuck is also survived by his two sisters Betty and Alice and their families.

Pamela (Pam) Jean McNab (Brodin) of Calgary passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 61 years.

Pam is survived by her children and their spouses, sons Robbie (Melonie), Sean (Dawn), daughter Tara (Chuck Veltman); and seven grandchildren, Kylee, Alicia, Kristen, Cody, Samantha, Mikaela, and Michael. Bondoc, Violet Teo

Violeta Tio Bondoc, beloved wife of Enrique, of Calgary passed away on Monday, September 24, 2007 at the age of 64 years.

Violeta was born on October 19, 1942 in Capas, Tarlac, Philippines. She married Enrique on September 27, 1962. Violeta spent most of her life farming with her husband. They opened a convenience store in Balibago, Angeles City in 1976 until 1983. Violeta supervised a farm and a store in Palau, Micronesia with Enrique for five years. A devoted mother, her life centred in helping those in need, and not be a burden to anyone.

Besides her loving husband Enrique, Violeta is survived by her children and their spouses, Nympha Bondoc, Elmer (Cecerie) Bondoc, Gloria (Rodel) Diwa, Elite Bondoc, and Dianne Bondoc; four grandchildren; Chloe, Chelsea, CJ, and Simon; as well as eight siblings, Maximino Tio, Nenita Santos, Benito Tio Jr., Lita Manalungsung, Monica Lusung, Celestina Amando, Catalina Santiago, and Corazon Millan. Violeta was predeceased by her mother Baldomera Guinto, father Benito Tio, sister Rosita Tio, and son Enrique Bondoc Jr.

Stickel (nee Strait), Bonnie

Bonita (Bonnie) Jane Stickel, beloved wife of Garry Stickel of Cochrane, Ab passed away on September 23, 2007 at the age of 55 years.

Bonnie was born on September 6, 1952 in Watertown, South Dakota. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1970. After graduating from High School, Bonnie relocated to Medicine Hat, Alberta where she began Bible College. In 1971, Bonnie met the love of her life, Garry, at Hillcrest Christian College and were married October 22, 1972, residing in Calgary their first married years. Later in time, Bonnie and her family resided in Three Hills, Yellowknife (North West Territories) Drumheller and in 1993 moved to Cochrane. Bonnie’s talents were very evident in handling many administrative and secretarial functions throughout her work life. She thoroughly enjoyed helping people in whatever line of work she did. Bonnie deeply believed in being immersed in church family throughout her life. She believed in living out an active faith in response to her personal relationship with her Lord Jesus Christ. She was a current and active member of Harvest Christian Fellowship Church in Calgary.

Besides her loving husband Garry, Bonnie is remembered by her three sons and two daughters-in-law Kelly (Joy-Lynn) Stickel of Okotoks, Corey (Lindsay) Stickel of Calgary and Craig Stickel of Cochrane; her six grandchildren – Carson, Kahl, Keenan and Kaedan, Caleb and Hannah. She is survived by her father John Strait of Watertown, South Dakota; her two sisters and two brothers-in- law Dianne (Ray) Pregitzer of Ames, Iowa; and Judi (Henry) Nieman of Watertown, S.D. She is also much loved and remembered by her parents-in-law, Oscar and Alma Stickel, of Three Hills, AB. Bonnie was predeceased by her mother Betty Strait, and brother John Robert Strait of Watertown, S.D.

Rouse, James (Jim) Gordon

Rouse, James (Jim) Gordon

James (Jim) Gordon Rouse passed away peacefully in the arms of his beloved wife of forty-eight years Mil on Friday, September 28, 2007 at the age of 72 years.

Jim was born in Calgary and married Mil in Banff in 1959. He graduated in Civil Engineering from the U of A in 1964 and completed a Masters of Traffic Engineering at the U of Berkley in 1966. Jim worked for Parks Canada his entire career, retiring in 1990. He loved trains his whole life and would spend many hours following and watching trains. He also had an extensive model railway in his home. As well, Jim loved the mountains and enjoyed fishing, hiking, camping and photography all his life. Jim was a member of the Shawnee Slopes Golf Course and the North Hill Curling Club. In 1991 he bought his dream car, a 1929 Model A Roadster and joined the Stampede City Model A Ford Club where he and Mil made many new friends and were active members. Jim was a proud family man who knew he was to be a Grandpa early in 2008.

Jim is survived by his wife Mil; daughter Lauren; son Gord (Sheri); sisters, Eva (Abe) Teubert and Muriel (Mike) Barth; and brother-in-law Raymond (Diane) Young. As well, he is survived by his nieces Kathy Young and Liane (Rich) Ralston; nephews, Raymond Young, Gary Young and Mark (Elaine) Teubert; and cousins, Edna (Gil) Schmaltz and Wendy Andrusyschyn.

Joyce G. Williamson of Calgary passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 following recent surgery at the age of 86 years.

Born in Campbellton, NB, she was the daughter of the late Louella and Courtney Nelson. Joyce will be remembered for her love of life, her sense of humour, as well as her love of family and friends. Her love of bridge was a great pastime for her, playing in the same club since 1970 to present. George and Joyce travelled and lived overseas for a number of years with many great memories of those times.

Joyce is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law David and Dolores, Ian and Chris; her four grandchildren Kristin (Neil), David (Robyne), Adam and Courtenay; as well as five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1990.

Joan Evelyn Howard of Calgary passed away suddenly on Friday, September 28, 2007 at the age of 71 years.

Joan was born on April 18, 1936 in Saskatchewan. She graduated from nursing school in Winnipeg and spent many years in private practice prior to becoming Unit Manager at Calgary General Hospital. During her retirement years Joan enjoyed playing bridge and cribbage as well as getting together with family and friends.

Joan is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Skip Howard of Vancouver, BC, Peter and Theresa Howard of Calgary; two grandchildren, Kellan and Laken Howard; and a brother and sister-in-law Bill and June Taylor of Halifax, NS. She was predeceased by her husband Robert; parents Bob and Ellen Taylor; and brother Dick Taylor.
