A friend took me to the famous Woo Pin Cheras Flats Fish Head Noodles and I can’t get enough of them ever since. Located at the bottom of some flats near Cheras, Kuala Lumpur this “yu tau mai” stall is a not so closely guarded secret because the place is packed most afternoons and even more so on weekends.

What I like is the fact they give you nice big chunks of meaty fish. You can opt for a few variations of the noodle and fish combination, but I usually opt for this one – fried fish noodle in clear soup.

I was out and about one day when I found myself at Solaris Mont Kiara. I never know what to eat when I’m there, but as we turned twice around the block we noticed a new restaurant - Peking Duck @ Solaris. We decided to give it a try on a whim.

I later found out its part of the Palace Group which owns Jaya Palace and Imbi Palace – a chain of Chinese restaurants. The menu is quite extensive, and there is seating inside and outdoors. I opted to sit outdoors as it was a drizzly evening and quite cool. There is also dim sum and steamboat available.

But we were here for Peking Duck! :D

Oh what an absolutely horrible blogger I am! I hardly blogged on food all through 2011 but this year shall be different… I hope :P I’ll start off with a perennial Malaysian favourite – Nasi Lemak!

A chit chat with a friend resulted in my driving all the way to Setapak for what was supposed to be very good nasi lemak, authentically served on a banana leaf, at a roadside stall. My sort of eating place! :D

mali's corner setapak

Better still, its right in the middle of a housing estate and but for my friend, I’d never know about its existence. Little did I know that Mali’s Corner is really famous! Just look up the reviews on the internet. People are known to queue … QUEUE! for its nasi lemak and char kway teow basah done in Malay style.
