Colston or Nicks: Who Stays and Who Goes?

Who will stay: Colston or Nicks? That is the question.

It is 99 percent certain that Drew Brees will be staying in New Orleans for a while, as he is expected to be signed to a record contract and has said that the deal should be done soon. Saints receiver Marques Colston and guard Carl Nicks wish they could say the same about their futures with the team but in reality they both have question marks above their heads.

The Saints have limited funds to go around and might not be able to afford both players. Colston has stated that he, "Will not give the team a hometown discount." Nicks has expressed his disinterest in the franchise tag and wants a long-term deal himself. Until Brees gets signed, the uncertainty will continue to build.

MTD Live Draft War Room- Rounds 3-5

DALLAS - FILE: Potential Saints 2nd round draft pick Travis Lewis (Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)

Good afternoon, Saints fans! We are smack dab in the middle of Mocking the Draft's 2012 Live Draft. Last night, we concluded with the end of Round 2. So far, your New Orleans Saints have selected Travis Lewis, Outside Linebacker out of Oklahoma at the end of the second round. As the GM for this Live Draft, there was no decent offer to move into the first round, so I decided to stick where I was. Lewis was the number one guy on my board, and he would hypothetically fill a big need we have. Today, we have picks #91, #123 and #155, as well as #167, #169 and #219 available for trade. I am currently exploring opportunities to move up in the third round and grab Jerel Worthy, Defensive Tackle, Michigan State. Other names still on the board: Cam Johnson, DE, Virginia; Zebrie Sanders, OT, FSU; Audie Cole, MLB, NC State; Ladarius Green, TE, Louisiana-Lafayette, as well as others. Below, I have linked the updated Big Board, Draft Tracker and MTD Draft Thread.

Poll
If possible, would you move up in the third round to draft Jerel Worthy?

Fast Five: Mardi Gras Edition

We're smack dab in the middle of Mardi Gras 2012 down here in New Orleans so it's hard to think about anything else at this point. That being the case, I've decided to make our Fast Five post this week all about The Gras. Unfortunately, some of you out there may have never had the pleasure of experiencing The Gras, so you'll just have to sit this one out and learn from those that have.

The objective is simple: I ask you guys five questions and you answer them in the comment section below.

I look forward to reading your answers and getting to know each and every one of you a little better through your opinions. The more participation the better, so let's hear it!

What's your favorite spot on the parade route? What Mardi Gras traditions do you and your friends/family have? Who makes your favorite King Cake? What is your favorite Krewe or parade? What is your craziest Mardi Gras story?

Canal Street Chronicles 2012 Elections: Part I

Who will raise the flag as the worst free agent signing in Saints history, Albert Connell or Brian Simmons? (AP Photo/Bill Haber)

By Ralph Malbrough and Hans Petersen

It's an election year, and here at Da Chronic we take elections very seriously. We aren't talking trivial things like who the next President will be, or who might control the Senate, or who's smarter than a 5th grader. WE ARE DEBATING SERIOUS THINGS HERE.

In this ongoing series, Hans "HansDat" Petersen from Canal Street Chronicles and Ralph "Malbrough" Malbrough from WWLTV.com will debate controversial topics that divide Saints fans, families, and even rip asunder the very fabric of America itself! And then you, CSC Nation, can decide the winner.

The first topic: Worst Saints Free Agent Signing Ever

More after the jump...

Poll
Which of these guys has made the better case for being the worst free agent signing in New Orleans Saints history?

What Up With Dat?: Submit Your Questions

Photo

Happy Mardi Gras weekend! It's Carnival time down here in the Big Easy which means beads, baubles and boobs abound! But even with all the partying going on around me, I'm never too busy to answer a few questions from Saints fans. Which is why our "What Up With Dat" mailbag series, where you guys submit questions and I answer them, continues on without interruption.

So if you've got a burning question you've been dying to know my answer to, send an email to blogandgold@yahoo.com, send me a tweet @csctweet, post on our wall at Canal Street Chronicles Facebook page or just ask me in the comment section below. They can be about the Saints, the NFL, the blog or even personal. Don't forget to leave your first name and last initial so we can give you credit for your question if we wind up using it. I will round up the best questions and answer them in a timely fashion in a second follow-up post.
