The Black Native American Association (BNAA) is an intertribal group of people with African-American and Native American heritage who organized in late summer 1992.
We do not require proof of tribal enrollment or recognition. We tend to be inclusive, not exclusive. The BNAA chooses not to mimic "Blood Quantum" tactics. We accept all those who wish to participate.
The association was founded in the Oakland-San Francisco Bay Area. Our membership includes indigenous peoples from all over the world. We honor all our ancestors.
We assist our members and others in the following ways:
Speakers Bureau Educational Classes for the Seventh Generation. Spirituality Tribal Ceremonies Talking Circles Native Languages Drum Classes Making Traditional Tribal regalia Genealogy search Assistance in application for tribal enrollment. Social and psychological impact of the crisis of living with bi-racial, tri-racial, multi-racial identities. Annual social events. (picnics, pow wows, trips,etc.) Collaborate with other Native American organization, nonprofit groups, Colleges, Universities, Schools and private corporations. Referral Services to Local, County, and State governmental agencies
