Husband, father and son.
Duane Brayboy is an accomplished writer, web content producer and commentator. Out of a passion for his community and his people, he founded Blackinformant.com in 2003. Duane was compelled by constant demonstrations of ‘groupthink’ he saw growing among the black population- thus the tagline, “Engaging the culture by challenging the status quoâ€. He gathered his thoughts, opened his laptop and Blackinformant.com was born.
Duane has authored hundreds of lifestyle, educational, social and economic commentary articles featured on various websites. He has been a recurring guest on NPR “News & Notes†blogger rountable. He has also been featured on Politico and named in “The Best of Political Blogs†by the New York Daily News.
Although these accolades are very important, Duane is most moved by the reception he receives from his faithful readership. Thanks to the readers, Blackinformant.com was rated “Best Of†by digg.com during the month ofSeptember 2009 with a record high of 102,000 hits in one day.
One of the things Duane loves to do most is interview some of our most unique and prominent personalities in entertainment, politics and culture. His platform is his podcasts, Blackinformant.com podcast and Blackinformant.com Xtra.
Blackinformant.com podcast is an overview of today’s most relevant topics in entertainment, politics, and social awareness. Some guests that have been on the show are Tavis Smiley, David Alan Greer and many others. Currently, this is one of the only podcasts of its kind on iTunes.
Blackinformant.com Xtra is a bi-weekly highlight show that takes a light-hearted approach to discussing the month’s most notable news.
Newly added to his list is BeautyLifestream.com podcast: a show dedicated to addressing the needs of women, answering beauty questions and offering life lessons. Also new is VillageTour, an addition to Blackinformant.com blog, is a collaborative, one-stop spot to find the hippest spots in entertainment, dining and culture in your area. Input is exclusively added from the locals.
Duane’s passion is integrating social media with online media and journalism to create new, fresh writing angles that create a platform for all things important to our community.
What has kept Duane rooted and grounded over the years is the upbringing of his father and mother, his loving relationship with his wife of almost 12 years, his two children and good friends and family members.
As a person who has spent many years working with youth and young adults, Duane is available for public speaking opportunities on character development, mentoring, and technology.
