Just write. Writer will take care of saving your work automatically every few minutes, when you start a new document, and when you open a different document.

Your documents will still be here when you come back later. The site remembers you by placing a cookie on your computer. Click here to choose a username and password just in case you lose your browser cookies or if you want to use Writer on a different computer. Totally optional.

You can customize colors, fonts, and other settings in your Preferences.

Saved documents are listed at the bottom of the page. Open one by clicking it. The document you are currently working on will be saved automatically first.

Click "New" to save your current document and start with a blank page. Press F11 (PC/Linux) to get a full-screen writing environment. Press F11 again to return to a normal window. I'm told that Command+Shift+F does the same thing on some Mac browsers (not not all Mac browsers support full screen mode).

I think Writer works best in Chrome and Firefox.

There are two keyboard shortcuts. Ctrl-S to save (or Alt-S or Command-S), Alt-N for a new document (or Command-N). Try this for fun: Type something, Alt-N, type something else, Alt-N. Neat, huh?

Writer is free. If you like it, please consider making a donation through the link at the bottom of the page.

Writer was inspired by the excellent Writeroom by Hog Bay Software (Mac OS X).

Send suggestions to john@bighugelabs.com.

Have a nice day!
