Replacing tires on your vehicle can be an expensive necessity. Even if you find a deal, you can easily spend a few hundred dollars on replacements. A good friend of ours gave us this very helpful advice. Before you replace your tires, check your spare. The spare tire on some vehicles is a full sized brand new tire. So instead of buying 4 tires, you purchased 3 and had them put the spare on as the 4th tire. Then take one of your old tires and use that to replace the spare. This also saves money on the tire disposal fee. This will only work if you have a full size spare, but if you have one you have just saved yourself more than a few dollars.

We saved a bunch on tires at Cosco using my mom’s membership- it was hundreds of dollars cheaper!
We saved a lot of money on tires by getting used ones that were still in excellent condition and had a warranty. Our spare is to small to work, but this is good advice. Tires can be very expensive.
LOL, we are about to buy tires too. I buy ours at AAFES – even though military exchanges are a pain to work with, I comparison-shopped all over the county and online (Costco, too, although for civilian families they have the best deals) and AAFES won. I just plan for delays and grit my teeth while I’m sitting in the lovely waiting room. Next time I plan to walk over to the museum on base and see if the woodchuck still lives under the footbridge.

Wow! I had not idea the spare would be a full size tire. We just got our Suburban a few months ago. I haven’t even looked at the spare

Ok,. We never buy NEW tires. We live in Florida and we have found this place that sells USED tires. The place is kind of scary looking with all those tires piled up everywhere, and there isn’t an air conditioned waiting area, and they guys aren’t clean with matching shirts with their names on them, BUT we have always gotten like new tires for half what we would have paid it they were new. My husband has a few high end cars and one is a track car. Most of his friends pay like $400 or more for 1 tire!! He got all four for about that price. We own a company that has vans and we always go with the used tires. Used tires are usually taken off new cars (from buyers that want “better” tires), and sold to used tire dealers. When we bought my USED BMW 5 years ago we put used tires on it and they still look like new after daily driving and many road trips. HUGE SAVINGS especially when you pay CASH! Just a suggestion.
