Jah spotted this thread over at mobile-review regarding a possible new E- series device. If the picture is anywhere close I am on it like a shot!
“The new Communicator will be S60 3rd Edition (3.1 precisely) based. The internal screen will be VERY HUGE, and the external screen will be S60 as well – thanks to S60 3rd Edition’s scalable UI. The keyboard will be large and comfortable, too. That’s all for now but more info will come as soon as I know something.”

Not sure if I like the idea of using S60 on a communicator. I really like my E61, but in terms of actual functionality – i.e. contacts, alarms, and calendar – my 9300 was better. You can search contacts by both company and name (if you have a name and company in the E61, the company name won’t show up in the search); there are no recurring alarms for the E61; calendar was better in the 9300. I know that there are 3rd party add-ons that overcome some of these shortcomings, but in my opinion, the series 80 software was much more robust in these areas.
