This major report issues an urgent call for SREB states to focus now on improving student achievement in the middle grades — “the make-or-break point in public education.” A New Mission for the Middle Grades: Preparing Students for a Changing World lays out a comprehensive roadmap for change, with six goals and specific recommendations that can help SREB states better prepare middle-graders for high school and the future. The SREB Middle Grades Commission, led by Governor Beverly Perdue of North Carolina (former Chair of SREB), worked with SREB staff and national experts to develop the report. Press release >
