SCM Logins for classic SourceForge projects

February 6th, 2012

Greetings,

Previously, users with 16 or more projects needed to authenticate to SCMs (Git, Mercurial, Bazaar) using a combined username (taking the form “USERNAME,PROJECTNAME”), due to recent changes in our system, this is no longer necessary. While it will still work for the time being, we encourage that users stop using the “USERNAME,PROJECTNAME” format, they can just the username instead.

This does not affect authentication to frs.sourceforge.net for managing file releases, or connecting to the shell service via shell.sourceforge.net. The combined username should still be used in those cases.
