First Look: Energizer Night Race 2012 Official Vest Design by Brooks

OK. As we promised via Twitter this morning, here's the big announcement - Energizer Night Race is back! The launching ceremony was held at Banker's Club, Amoda Building this morning.

We had the privilege to be first people to see the official vest, hear from the big boss of Energizer and witness the launch of the spanking new website.

This year's official vest will be from Brooks.

How do you like it? (We think it's a bit HooHa! ;))

Mr. Mike Foong, Managing Director of Energizer Malaysia (middle) announced that Twenty-First Century Sports Sdn. Bhd has been appointed as the race organiser.

For the race, Energizer will be partnering with the Malaysia District of Kiwanis, an international non-profit organisation by donating RM10 from every successful registration to benefit the children with disabilities and learning difficultiesas well as children development and learing programs by Kiwanis Malaysia.

Wow! That will amount to RM50,000, assuming the 5,000 target runners is hit.

The race will be held at the same venue as last year - The Sepang International Circuit on April 21. The race will have three categories - 42km, 15.5km and 5.5 km.

Energizer Malaysia is also planning to enhance the contributuion by raising another RM210,000 through the sales of Energizer battery packs from March to May this year. With every pack sold, 30 sen will be set aside for the contributuion to Kiwanis Malaysia.

In an added generosity, Energizer's key distributors and business partners have pledge an additional amounts that put the total charity contributuion at an impressive RM340,000!

Various sponsors. We notice Ovaltine is coming into the running scene. I wonder how a cup of ice cold Ovaltine gonna taste like after the race. Heheh!

Please let me warn you, for those who intend to run this event, please sign up NOW. The number of registration will be capped at 5,000 runners, half of last year's 10,000 runners to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for all runners. Do sign up at http://energizernightrace.com.my/

Photos: Bad Boy Edison Chen Running The Standard Chartered HK Marathon 2012!

Edison Chen made it to the headlines again. This time, it also involves heavy panting, profuse sweating, heart pounding and mind blowing physical actions!!!

But instead of pounding on top of some hot shot female actresses from HK, he was seen pounding the tarmac for the Standard Chartered HK Marathon which was held last Sunday! Sorry, can't resist the pun! LOL!

I would like to share with you guys some shots of Edison Chen at the starting point of SCHKM 2012. Photos courtesy of Mr. Tey Eng Tiong, a ultrarunner/ photographer/ running ambassador from Malaysia.

Edison was decked with Nike gear from top to toe - long sleeve shirt, running short and a pair of Nike running shoes. Is that the latest Nike Fuel Band on his right wrist? (To Nike Malaysia: When are you guys launching it here? Heheh!)

A discerning audio fan we think - he also sported a pair of Beats by Dr. Dre Headphones. We wonder what was he listeing to...:D His own album? Heheh!

For those uninitiated, Edison Chen (陳冠希) is an actor-singer from HK who was embroiled in a sex photo scandal that has rocked Hong Kong and publicly embarrassed celebrities, including Gillian Chung (龿¬£æ¡), Bobo Chan (陳文媛) and Cecilia Cheung (張栢èŠ) about four years ago.

He also caused a media buzz when he was found dating a barely legal 16-year-old model, Cammi Tse (è¬èŠ·è•™) and photo of them kissing circulated in the Internet last year.

A lot of people accused his participation in the charity run as an attempt to offset the bad press he received for his sex scandals.

Despite the bad press and all, Edison managed to complete the 42.19km race in an exceptional timing of 3 hours, 55 minutes and 46 seconds, raising a total of HK$1 million (RM388,200) for Nike's NOMADRUN Charity Project, which benefits the Changing Youth Lives Foundation, Hong Kong.

Wow...Edison, very well done-lah!

Note: Edison & Finisher Medal photo grabbed from HERE.

Check out the newspaper cutting from HK. Spotted are local Malaysian runners, Terence & Chooi Wan (in yellow circle) sharing the headline behind Edison Chen.

Note: Newspapers cutting grabbed from Amelia's FB. Heheh! Thanks!

And one of my lucky friends actually managed to take a pic with Edison! Julian recounted the moment with glee, "He was warming up and I just asked him to take a picture. He paused and answered, "Ok, fast...". Then all the paparazzi zoomed over!"

Thanks Julian for the pic!

Energizer Night Race 2012 is on for a Brighter World

Energizer Malaysia has launched That’s Positivenergy, a global campaign that changes the way the company engages consumers in working together to make a positive difference to the world.

The campaign supports Energizer’s global commitment to creating long-lasting batteries with zero mercury, therefore helping to reduce waste and the impact on the environment. The foundation of the new platform combines performance and responsibility, and demonstrates Energizer’s long-standing commitment to responsible power and serving the community.

In line with That’s Positivenergy, Energizer Malaysia will be bringing back the annual Energizer Night Race on the 21st of April this year that promises to re-inspire participants and consumers with Energizer’s global positioning of ‘Keep Challenging, Keep Growing’ in more ways than one.

This year, Energizer Malaysia will be partnering with the Malaysian District of Kiwanis, an international not-for-profit organisation for the Energizer Night Race, which is well-known for its established initiatives such as the Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation and the Service Leadership Program (SLP), an international youth development program that provides leadership training.

Under the partnership, RM10 from every registration for the Energizer Night Race will be channelled to children development and learning programs by Kiwanis Malaysia, with RM50,000 set as the initial target from an estimated 5,000 participants. Energizer Malaysia is also planning to enhance the contribution by aiming to raise another RM200,000 through proceeds from the sales of Energizer battery packs throughout the registration period leading up to the race, putting the total target charity contribution at RM250,000.

“We at Energizer Malaysia recognise how we can do better than before and deliver a world-class sporting event that embodies our aspirations and corporate responsibility. In line with the responsibility and sustainability represented by That’s Positivenergy, we are very excited to be partnering with Kiwanis to support its motto of ‘Serving the Children of the World’.

“This is an effort that goes beyond Energizer itself. We strongly urge our trade partners and consumers to support this initiative and the life-changing opportunities it will provide for children throughout Malaysia, giving them the power for a brighter future,” said Foong.

Runwitme Says: So, the race in on again! Will you join the race again after last year's incident? Please leave a comment and follow this blog for more info about the Energizer Night Race 2012!
