Winter 2012

Knit 101 – Wed. Feb. 1 and 8 – 6:30-8:30pm $30
This class will teach you the basics. Learn to cast on, knit, and cast off as you knit a scarf, dishcloth or tea bag hat. Patons Next Steps 1 booklet is included. Skills needed - none

Top Down Baby/Kids Sweater – Thurs. Feb. 2, 9 and 16 - 6:30-8:30pm $45
This is a great class for those knitting their first sweater or anyone who doesn’t like to sew sweater pieces together, as this sweater is made in one piece. A pattern from Knitting Pure and Simple is included. Skills needed – knit, purl, cast on and off

Entrelac – Tues. Feb. 7 – 6:30-8:30pm $15
This interesting technique creates very beautiful results. Bring a copy of the free Danica pattern from www.knitty.com to class with you, and we’ll start on this gorgeous scarf. Skills needed- knit, purl, cast on and off.

Knitting in the Round – Wed. Feb. 15 and 22- 6:30-8:30pm $30
Are you getting tired of knitting scarves. Take this class to learn how to knit in the round. You will use either 1 or 2 circular needles to make a simple cowl or hat. Skills needed– cast on, knit.

Crochet 101- Tues. Feb. 21 and 28 – 6:30-8:30pm $30
Learn the basics of crochet in this 2 night class. A copy of Patons Next Steps Crochet is included. Skills needed - none

Easy Colour-work Mittens – Thurs. Feb. 23- 6:30-8:30pm $15
You’ll be amazed at how easy this colourwork technique is. You work with only one colour at a time, but create something that looks much more complicated. You can buy the pattern Cloisonee at www.yarnharlot.ca/blog or www.ravelry.com . Skills needed- intermediate

Crochet Project Class – Thurs. Mar. 1, 8 and 15 – 6:30-8:30pm $45
This class is for you to work on your crochet projects with help. Whether it’s your first project, or you’ve made many, this is a chance to get assistance and learn something new. Skills needed – basic stitches

Socks on 2 Circulars – Mon. Mar. 5, 19, 26 – 6:30-8:30pm $45
This always popular class is for both new and experienced sock knitters. You’ll learn the very popular technique of knitting one sock on two circular needles. A copy of Cat Bordhi’s “Socks Soar†book is included. Skills needed – cast on, knit and purl with ease.

Finishing – Wed. Mar. 7 – 6:30-8:30pm $15
Sewing a project together isn’t usually on anyone's list of favourite things to do, but it has to get done. Learn some techniques that will give your projects a professional look, and make it easier to do. Bring a project ready to put together.

Stay-on Baby Booties – Wed. Mar. 21 and 28 – 6:30-8:30pm $30
This is a great class for newer knitters, or a great refresher for knitters that have been away from their needles for a while. A copy of the popular Churchmouse pattern is included. Skills needed – cast on and knit. You’ll learn increasing, decreasing, and making eyelets in this class.

Yarn Shopping 101 – Thurs. Mar. 29 – 6:30-8:30pm $15
So you have a bin full of yarn and you’re not sure what pattern to use, or maybe you have a great pattern but no idea what yarn will work. This class will be a discussion on these questions as well as fibre content, gauge issues, and more.
