Jon Stewart steps in it on 'Late Show With David Letterman' -- VIDEO

When Daily Show host Jon Stewart stopped by the Late Show With David Letterman last night, the two comics broached the topic of Mitt Romney. The seemingly harmless conversation quickly went awry when Letterman offered a counter theory on Stewart’s ideas about the GOP presidential candidate. Romney, said Letterman, looks like “the guy who’s on the underwear package.”

Some comic freestyling then led Stewart to wonder whether Letterman even had to wear underwear anymore, suggesting that Letterman has a team of interns perhaps who “just sit there and hug your groin for you.” Letterman didn’t miss a self-deprecating beat: “Jon! I had a little trouble along those lines…” So how did we get from Romney to sexual harassment in such a short span of time? See the clip below. READ FULL STORY »

'Happy Endings' recap: Grant Land

happy-endings

During last week’s blisteringly funny Valentine’s Day-themed episode of Happy Endings it was determined that, in their own bizarro Friends world, Dave is Ross, Alex is Rachel, Penny is Phoebe, Jane is Monica, and Max is (Fat) Joey. (Which, by default, makes Brad Chandler. Makes sense, though Chandler was never this cool.)

But in last night’s episode, the almost aptly-titled “Everybody Loves Grant,” the gang had a whole new set of identities to live by: Dave is The Dave, Alex is The One with the Store, Penny is The Single One, Jane is The Type A One, Max is The Lazy One, and Brad is The Married One. In actuality, Dave’s title should have been The Dave Who Desperately Wishes He Was The Cool One.

Gail Simmons blogs 'Top Chef:' Guns, gondolas and ice picks...let the games begin!

As told to Nuzhat Naoreen.

[Shooting in the cold weather] changes the way you cook, especially when you actually have to cook outside, which we made the cooks do, for better or for worse. It also just allowed us to do so many different things for the challenges that we’ve never done before. [We were able to] have [the contestants] face a complete extreme opposite situation than they faced in Texas. We went from 116 degrees everyday to 20 degrees, which was a bit of a shock for all of us.

[In terms of the gondola challenge], altitude affects the rate at which things cook, it affects the rate at which water boils, and if you’re not used to it and don’t account for it, it really will change a cook time. So, when you only have 22 seconds and you need to get water boiling, you need to make a sauce, you need to sear your meat, you really need to pay close attention or the results will not be what you expect. 'American Idol' contestant Reed Grimm christened as the new Casey Abrams after playing the drums

“I am the next American Idol because I got something ain’t nobody got,” announced the (overbearingly?) quirky Reed Grimm, 26, before settling in on the Hollywood Week stage to begin the episode’s 78th cover of Ray Charles’ “Georgia on my Mind.” What had Reed got? A special “GrooveSauce”? An impressive music collection of exclusively TV theme song CDs and movie soundtracks?

No! I mean, yes on the latter for sure, but what Reed wanted to pull out of his underwear tee and lord over the others was his impression of Animal from the Muppets. READ FULL STORY »

Who knew he had it in him? After more than two decades of wearing the same red t-shirt and blue shorts, Bart Simpson is going high fashion.

Designer Jeremy Scott, whose previous pop culture collections include those inspired by The Flinstones and Mickey Mouse, unveiled an entire line devoted to The Simpsons character during New York Fashion week earlier today.

The looks — there were five of them — consisted primarily of sweaters emblazoned with Simpson’s iconic image (pictured), some of which were paired with sequined pants or kilts. READ FULL STORY »

John Cochran. Little did we know when we first saw the 24-year-old, tan-averse Harvard Law student five months ago at the start of Survivor: South Pacific that he would become one of the biggest, and most polarizing, power players to outwit, outplay, and outlast on the venerable franchise in some time. A self-professed “student of the game,†Cochran initially found that his close study of Survivor’s previous 22 seasons didn’t prepare him for actually being on the show himself. Boy, did he get over that in a hurry. In one instantly legendary move at a deadlocked tribal council, he turned his back on his original tribe and voted with the other side, a decision that resulted in each of his former tribemates getting sent home one by one.

Ultimately, that move may have cost him the $1 million. But it did land him a gig live-blogging the season premiere of Survivor: One World tonight on EW.com. Please join us starting at 7:40 pm ET, when Cochran will begin chatting live with you, taking your questions and offering his insight into the new season. Then he’ll stick around for the entirety of the One World premiere, adding his running commentary. The tribe has spoken. You must be here. See you then.

The movie starred Britney Spears in her first and only leading film role and featured Zoe Saldana and Taryn Manning as Britney’s two childhood friends – no, best friends – who roadtrip across the country and, according to IMDb, “find themselves and their friendship in the process.†READ FULL STORY »

'Dancing With the Stars': Draft Tim Pawlenty!

Tim-Pawlenty

The producers of Dancing With the Stars have been thwarted in their reported efforts to draft ostensible reality TV stars — okay, former Republican presidential candidates — Herman Cain and Michele Bachmann for the next season of their show. Yesterday, Cain’s executive assistant reportedly told the Atlanta Journal Constitution that the pizza godfather and Tea Party favorite wouldn’t do it because he “can’t dance in an eight-count. He can only dance in a nine-count.” And just today, Bachmann tweeted and released a statement taking her feather boa out of the ring, “In full disclosure, I did win a polka dancing competition when I was in the tenth grade at my alma mater, Anoka High School in Anoka, Minn. But, despite my tenth grade polka success and my lifelong love of ballroom dancing, the recent rumors are false. I will not be joining Dancing With the Stars.”

The producers of DWTS might be disappointed by the rejections, panicked even. They have only two more weeks before the new cast will be announced. But I come with good news. Cain and Bachmann’s rejection is the best thing that could’ve happened to the show. I have two words for you, DWTS. Lean in close…
