ten things (#26)

Ten more things to do with your toddler. This is the fourth post with Toddler Ideas.

1. Use "bingo" markers to paint with. Very easy to use and Kiddos love them.

2. Build with blocks together.

3. String straws you have cut into 2 inch or so lengths onto a long piece of yarn to make a necklace.

4. String Cheerios or Fruit Loop type cereal to make a necklace, let child eat as they wish!

5. String Colored macaroni to make a necklace (color the macaroni, it is great to keep on hand for gluing projects too.)
Use tube type macaroni....place your dried pasta in a zip plastic baggie. Pour in 3-4 drops food coloring. Pour in 1 Tablespoon of Rubbing Alcohol. Now seal the bag and shake it all together. Make sure each piece of dried pasta gets coated. Pour your colored pasta out on paper towel lined trays. Food coloring can stain, be careful.

6. Sort, anything. Socks, toys, buttons (be careful about small kids & choking hazard) Sorting is a pre-math skill.

7. Play memory. Younger children can start with 2 or 3 matches, add more as the master the skill. You can use a purchased game or make your own.

8. Make thumbprint, handprint or footprint crafts. Pinterest has tons of ideas for this.

9. Look up at the clouds and describe what you see.

10. Take your child on a walk after dark, point out the stars, the moon, how different things look at night.

ten things (#25)

Ten MORE things to do with your toddler.
(Their attention span is short, it takes a lot of creativity to keep them busy)

1. Turn off the lights and give them a flashlight.

2. Make pudding and then enjoy it with them! (you can make jello pudding in a shaker)

3. Give them a big paintbrush & pail of water, let them "paint" the house, the sidewalk.

4. Play a game of sink-or-float. Gather different array of their toys or small familiar objects, let them guess if it will sink or float when placed in water, you can use a pail, the sink or even the bathtub.

5. Hold them close and sing songs (like You Are My Sunshine), they still love that snuggling!

6. Get an old magazine, tear out photos of things that child is familiar with & let them glue the pics on another piece of paper.

7. Read. Read, read some more.

8. Blow bubbles.

9. Throw the pillows or couch cushions in the floor & climb on them.

10. Give them magnets to play with (supervised) make sure they are not small enough to swallow.

Valentina

My sister, Tina Kaye, will be 50 years old tomorrow.

She always wished her name had been Valentina instead of "Tina".....I happen to think she is perfect as "Tina" .......I love her very much.

ten things (#24)

Ten things about Valentines Day.....

1. My sister was born on valentines day, I always wished that it had of been me instead of her!

2. My sister will be fifty (yep5.0.) tomorrow.

3. I never liked conversation hearts.

4. I got my first box of candy from a boy in first grade (it was a heart filled with conversation hearts!!)

5. Red is my favorite color, but not for Valentines.

6.The average person celebrating the holiday will spend $126.03, Total spending is expected to reach $17.6 billion. (does anyone else find this ridiculous?).

7. In Japan, it’s tradition for women to give men gifts of chocolate on Valentine’s Day. But on March 14, White Day, men are expected to return the favor by gifting their ladies jewelry, white chocolate, white lingerie and marshmallows.

8. Nobody should cook on Valentines, but goodness, the restaurants are WAY to crowded on Valentine's for me!

9. My sweetheart has bought me flowers for many of the past Valentines....assorted bouquets, Red Roses, yellow roses and tulips....my favorite flower for Valentines is the tulip.

10. I made an online photo-gift for my honey, and I bought a sweet book for my grandson, but that is it. Seems we are way below the norm!!
