Moving over to TaraHunt.com

Last year, I noticed that TaraHunt.com no longer had content on it. I had been watching it off and on for years as it was owned by a woman in France who goes by the name Anne-Claire Dexmier-Morcrette. I quietly thought ‘hat tip to Anne-Claire’ and purchased HorsePigCow in 2003. But when I saw there was no longer content on the site, I thought I’d look Anne-Claire up and send her a message.

Her reply back to me was darling:

I know exactly who you are as you are the real owner of this domain name from a city I know perfectly. I bought it many years ago because this is one of my nicknames. I stopped using it this year because I think that it is time for you to get it back.

And she handed it over refusing any payment. This was in July of 2011. I know. I’m not exactly on top of things these days!

In fact, my philosophy to prioritize M-E (early 2011) went to hell in 2011 (and now 2012!). My training fell by the wayside. My commitment to getting enough sleep had to be thrown out. Even my skincare regime has suffered of late. I’m lucky if I leave my desk to eat and brush my teeth! I know, this isn’t good. But to make a long sob story short, I did find time here and there to set up TaraHunt.com as a good old WordPress.com site (no more hassle with figuring out hosting services and WordPress installations where I need to whine on Twitter for someone to help me).

I’ve even put a few posts up. One of the reasons I haven’t taken the time to announce it here (I set the blog up in the Fall of 2011!) is because I haven’t really put up much for new content. But I did migrate my old posts there.

Either way all of this is to say that I will be keeping this site up (but stagnant) for 2012 but not any further than that…and I’m going to build up TaraHunt.com going forward (though my most recent post is a pathetic excuse for why I haven’t been posting). Eventually and when Buyosphere grows to the point where I can hire people to do the stuff I’m awful at doing (I’m incredibly inefficient these days) and get back to doing what I love doing.

But don’t get me wrong. I am happier than I’ve ever been at Buyosphere…even though business modeling, pitching and calculating: “Based on where our research says we arrive at a mass market, our numbers are eventually going to settle into a growth of X% y/y with a cost of customer acquisition of $Y and $Z to retain them annually. We hit revenue-neutral at N users, so we’re going to arrive there early in our series A(?).†Huh? Even so, things are cooking along nicely and we are growing daily.

But even though I’m learning gobs and really loving my role, I’d love to have more time to think more strategically and build more in-depth relationships. Not to mention take care of myself. It’s essential for startup survival.

So…when you read this and get a chance, hop on over to TaraHunt.com – or even better, Buyosphere.com. Those are my new ‘homes’ where I’ll be updating my thoughts and ideas constantly.
