About Gerry

Gerry Ilagan is the owner of this WordPress network of sites. He started an interest in creating a web site that provides local information about a place called Ortigas Center where he was working years back. He now has other sites mostly about technology and mobile.

He has a degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the University of Santo Tomas and currently lives in the beautiful islands of the Philippines (the home of Pinoys and Pinays).

He loves talking about #crazyidea’s and technology focusing on topics like mobile phones, Linux, mobile app development (Android, iOS for iPhone/iPad), web design development (mostly using the WordPress CMS platform) and gadgets (cell phones, notebooks, netbooks, tablets).

Unix, Linux, Mac OS X

Gerry’s love for Unix started from reading a book entitled Operating Systems: Design and Implementation by Andrew Tanenbaum.

While working for banks during a major portion of his professional career, he has been a vocal supporter of Linux in the enterprise and has implemented projects involving Linux as the major platform.

Unix being his desktop operating system of choice, he mainly uses Apple’s Mac OS X and Ubuntu in his daily computing activities.

Hyper Local Communities

During his stint in one of the local Philippine banks, Gerry Ilagan started creating a local information web site for Ortigas Center where his office is located. His interest for geo location, maps and WordPress led to the creation of Ortigas Online (for Ortigas Center), iMakati (for Makati City).

He has also started creating the Pinoy.Me web site where he plans to write about the Pilipino global professional and entrepreneural community.

Mobile

Besides  geolocation, Gerry is also passionate about mobile. He believes that the world is now living the day where:

He believes that one day, every person will have their own computer that is also their mobile phone. Such a phone will run powerful mobile games and apps (applications). He often calls this the connected phone because it’s always connected to the Internet. The Internet connected phone will become the global and universal means of communicating with people.

Web, Mobile, Design, Development

Gerry started Code Stuff which offers web design development, mobile app development. He also writes about web and mobile development to provide useful information to other designers and developers.

He also started making his hyper local community idea into a reality and called it PINOI where he plans to continue making local sites like ortigas.com to provide useful information to people especially when they have to travel. His vision is to come out with a software service that allows people to setup their own hyper local online communities. If you’re interested, you can send a note via Gerry’s Contact page.

Advertisements

In the interest of full disclosure, Gerry also makes money by displaying advertisements on some pages of his web sites alongside the content that he creates. The web sites focus mainly on the Philippines, travel, technology, mobile phones and computers. If you are an interested advertiser, you can get in touch with him via Gerry’s contact page.
