hi ,

if you are getting service not availble then you are making the connection and the problems seems to be at there end , make sure the number you are dialing are correct .

i will set up a test account on my pbx where you can dial in and leave a message.

regards

Hi all. New to this forum. Discovered it while looking for the reason why my shiny new e61 would not register on Gizmoproject SIP server.

Thanks to all who have made an effort to sort this, I had lost over 6 hours playing with the setting and troubleshooting before discovering Nokia forgot to mention the phone would only work if the reg server was on NOT NAT'd.

I'm a huge Nokia fan, but this was a mistake on their part. I certainly hope they get it sorted and make the update available quickly. I fully understand the need to get a product out the door, however they need to know customers rely on their representations and they failed to disclose the NAT issue, this is not a good way to encourage relationships.

Now, I'm trying to work with this phone and have opened another SIP account to test it out. I'm following the suggestion on this board to try VoIPtalk's service.

I've followed the config advice, THANKS!, for the e61 and my firewall however the phone is still not registering.

Has anyone else attempted to use VoIPtalk and not been able to register?

I'm beginning to feel like a bit of a sucker having already lost so many hours before discovering the NAT deficiency, am wondering if I should spend more time attempting with VoIPtalk or just bag it.

TIA.

Hi,

If the config is correctly inputted into the phone then it should work, there are instances where you might have to change the domain name to an IP, and this is not an ideal solution I know!! .

Has the firewall got the correct rule in to allow all traffic from Voiptalk? You could try putting an any rule in just to see if you register, and as a last resort you could if you can turn off NAT, this is possible on most routers.

It would be nice if Nokia would acknowledge there is a problem with the sip stack and give users some idea of when things are going to be fixed .

Regards

Tim

Just to signal to the French audience that i succesfully registered my E61 with the SIP service of the Free provider. I could make a call, but i got an horrible audio quality (delayed in one direction, and
hashed in the other). I'll retry later.

I haven't tryed to receive a call on my SIP account, but that is for me the less interesting thing.

My wlan is runned by a Belkin router with NAT active, so i don't really know why it is working :->

From time to time, my E61 does not register with voiptalk. Make sure you have the good user/pass (usually 814*** and the pass can be retrieve my putting your mouse over the number, it's case sensitive).

If you have the same exact configuration than what I posted before, they do work and they have been tested by several people here and on other forums. Make sure you use TCP connections with the right ports. You can also try to reboot your device.

And Tim, you do not need to change your router's configuration at all since the connections are TCP. It must be tcp else the udp package will never reach your phone back because of the NAT issue.

And also Tim, nokia already acknowledged that there is an issue with NAT and they answered to this bug that the SIP client has been designed to be used on the same side of the SIP server on a network.

grahammorrison:

Make sure you have configure the "Internet tel. Settings" in the "Connection" settings menu, right up of the SIP settings.
If not, define a "new profile" there and add your voiptalk sip settings as you "SIP profiles".

Then, go to Menu, Connect., Internet tel., Preferred profile - and choose the new Profile you juste created. You should now be able to call via voiptalk

Finally if you want to set SIP as your default calling option, go to Menu, settings, Call - and set "Default call type" to Internet.

Firstly thanks to all those that have posted the set-up info. This in general is working well, however, I have a big problem with Voiptalk on-net calls. The calls work fine if someone else on Voiptalk calls me (so long as they are not using a Nokia sip phone!) but if the call originates from my E61 (or E70) the other persons phone rings but when answered, there is no audio either way. This seems to be the only problem. Has anyone else experienced this? It seems strange that outgoing PSTN calls are fine but on-net doesn't work! Thanks in advance for any suggestions. John.

I have an E60 and have both made and received calls on it without difficulty. I have not called another E-series phone because I know no one else who has one but every other call I have made or reveived has been fine.

Has anyone succesfully called another voiptalk user using their sip ID and not their PSTN number? I can't get this to work and it doesn't seem to matter whether the person is using an E series phone or not. Calls to the test numbers are fine as are all PSTN calls.

I have placed a few calls to other SIP networks and it works fine. It happened a few time I would connect to the other party but not sound would pass through. You can try to call me over here 8145943 (at) voiptalk.org...
It would be great to see if E61 to E61 works out good.
One thing I could not get to work with voiptalk.org is to call other SIP networks using the domain name (user@ekiga.net for example).
I need to use the sipbroker chart and use ekiga's *673 with the user's alias. I tried with other SIP providers and it works calling cross network directly. It's probably a bug on voiptalk's end...

Internet Call
I have a pair of Utstar F3000 both connected to Voiptalk and I can call each other via Voiptalk. I can call E61 that registered to voiptalk also. The voice quality is very good. Connection is very stable.

Problem:
I cannot call from E61 to my F3000. The F3000 will ring but when answer the E61 will display no services. From the F3000 it seems connected but cannot talk or hear anything. Any advice will be appreciated.

Sending SMS
I can also send SMS to UTstar F3000 from another UTstar via Voiptalk but cannot send from F3000 to E61 or from E61 to F3000. Any advice will be very much appreciated.

decafman, the problem that you describe is exactly the same as mine. I have contacted voiptalk support about the issue and they are willing to do some tests but I'm away from any WLAN's at the moment so can't do it. Could you also contact them about it? I think the more people that contact them the faster it will be resolved. John.

You need to use tcp. I tried udp and couldn't get it to work.

I have the same problem. I am able to register the internet telephone with Vonage but I am not able to make or recieve calls. When I try to make a call I get the following message: "address not in use". I have read this entire thread but haven't seen any specific solution to this problem. Am I missing something that was mentioned in the thread or there is still no solution for this problem. Thanks for all your help.

Slightly off topic, but while waiting for the E61 SIP solution (as I am) Gizmo is working ok on the Nokia 770 Internet Tablet :-)

pkgh, there is no solution to making VoIP calls with Vonage using any E-series phone because these phones do not support NAT traversal. Nokia has announced that they will have an upgrade to provide STUN support by the end of the year but we're stuck until then. However, there are providers out there that provide reverse NAT detection like VoIPtalk.org. I have made many VoIP calls with VoIPtalk without difficulty. There is also Mino from MinoWireless. Both of these work fine with my E60.
