Director of Design Digg seeks a keen design eye and a great communicator to lead the redesigns of several key user experiences. This is a full-time position at Digg's headquarters in San Francisco.
Responsibilities

Your brief is to translate these values into a new family of products that acknowledge and advance the social online experience. You will own the Digg user experience. You'll work directly with Digg Engineering to combine the Digg signal algorithm and several emerging technologies into new ways to share the best of the Internet: on Digg.com, through social networks like Facebook and Twitter, in mobile applications, and beyond. Digg is looking for strong software engineers with extensive experience in infrastructure systems and who are excited to work on cutting edge open-source systems (Cassandra, Redis, Hadoop, RabbitMQ, Zookeeper, Thrift, HDFS). Reporting to the VP of Engineering and working closely with an elite team of developers, product managers and operations engineers, you will apply elegant solutions to complicated problems.

Qualifications

You'll be working with some of the brightest minds in the web development, design and operations communities, on a variety of projects - adding new cool functionality to digg.com and scaling the site to meet our ever increasing traffic.

Lead direct sales of online advertising to East Coast clientele to meet Digg’s    revenue goals. Develop sales plans, metrics, goals, and revenue forecasts and budgets. Become an expert on the Digg audience, brand, site experience and product roadmap to create a compelling and credible selling proposition to agencies and clients. Collaborate with internal stakeholders including ad operations, finance, product management, and business development to assure execution and optimization of commitments and unlock new opportunities. Manage the sales process including prospecting, the RFP process, inventory planning, campaign adjustments, and post-mortems. Develop capabilities to drive analysis on advertising results for internal, agency and client use. Create original ideas and solutions that balance the needs of the client while maintaining a world-class user experience.
  Cultivate senior-level relationships with brand advertisers and ad agency executives.
