Those of my more senior followers might recall a certain Valentine’s Day comic that never made the transition from Drunk Duck to our new hosting. Consider this… a remake. I took it out of the archive because, while I liked it when it was made, it never really gelled well with the rest of Jayden and Crusader canon. It is scary to see how far the art has come in 4 years, it almost looks like it was made by two entirely different artists! Ah, memories.
I put a lot of effort into the backgrounds on this one (I’ve been saying that a lot, haven’t I?) I finally got around to writing up a floor plan of the Jayden and Crusader house hold, so I know where locations are in relationship to each other. That’s why panel 5 has one of them walking down the corridor (well, Third is being dragged). Jayden’s let her hair grow out a little since October it seems, this is good. And when was the last time we saw that pink shirt? 2009? Man, time flies.
Lots of tiny background jokes this week. We finally get to see all of Third’s Axis of Evil. though it looks like Crusader and Kat are eating some real delicious sludge at that restaurant.
Speaking of that restaurant, I think that’s the one Random Guy tried to take a date to… only they got candles. I wonder if Kat and Crusader wanted candles. In my original draft Kat and Crusader were going to be playing video games on Valentine’s Day (as they have a record of forgetting it a lot, and being pretty casual about that sort of thing in any case) But it wasn’t a very good counter point to Jayden’s predicament so I changed it. For better or for worse, I think I prefer it as it is.
This page also had more ‘classic’ staging than most recent comics, where characters are visible almost from knees up. It gave it a flair of 2009, to my eyes. Anyway, I’ve rambled on long enough. Tell me what you guys think!
